A supernatural superhero, and member of the Justice League.
Description[]
Etrigan is said to be a "fiend from the Pit" and is shown as a bulky demon with long arms and broad shoulders and stands with his short legs bent and splayed. He wears his traditional red costume (with a blue cape) over his yellow skin and has small horns on his head with red eyes and webbed ears. Etrigan always speaks in humorous rhyme and as such is more jovial than terrifying.
He is linked to an arcane human called Jason Blood (who is known to Batman), and when Blood summons the demon from a place of fire (presumably Hell), he disappears and is replaced by Etrigan. The latter is also said to be "Merlin's own demon", and that famous wizard is explained as Etrigan's master.
He is very effective in combat against supernatural opponents, usually in a boisterous and heavyweight manner, but can also make use of "mystic fire" that shoots from his mouth to consume a foe with flames.
Etrigan cannot perform magic himself but can call upon the assistance of Merlin by calling out the latter's name and who, after he appears, is able to help by, for instance, opening a travel portal or creating a special form of transport for Etrigan to use.

- In the early 1970s, this character's comic was called The Demon as though it was his superhero name and he can be more fully known as 'Etrigan the Demon' perhaps to remind us.
